About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.
Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.
Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

Perfect at-home elliptical
I bought this for use in my condo, and it is quiet, doesn't take up much space, and has everything I could hope to have in an elliptical trainer. I love having the TV in the screen. It has a lot of parts, and my boyfriend spent a few hours putting it together for me. The base weighs a ton, and somehow the delivery team and my boyfriend managed to carry it up four flights of stairs. That's something to note as well - this is a heavy duty piece of equipment, and I don't expect this to fall apart or break anytime soon. Now that it is all installed, I use it every day. I would definitely buy this again.

Great Product. Durable, Quiet, and smooth
This item has a gym like equipment quality. It is very heavy and durable. The motion is very fluid and quiet. Although you have to put it together, the instructions are VERY good and the bags of hardware are labeled with the figure in the manual that they go with making it very easy to install. I'm very pleased with the purchase so far.

Mixed Review
i ordered the product on november 18 and recived it november 28. the shipping was quick and the delivery guy brought it right in my house. i chose this eliptical over the numerous others because at the gym i use the life fitness 95i or 95xi. the problem is that machine new is about 3500 at the least and about 2000-2500 used. i used their home model and did not like the stride length. so after a month long search for the right machine i came across the iron man ascender. i read product reviews and this one had the best out of all of the other machines. the instructions were easy to follow and the actual assembly only took 2 hours. your probably reading this and thinking to your self why only 3 stars. well here is the problem. the mounting bracket for the screen is supposed to come with 4 hex screws according to the manual. but when you check your parts you get 4 phillip's head screws. the problem comes when you try to mount the bracket with the wrong screws it never connects the screen mounting bracket to the eliptical. the mounting bracket holes aren't threaded so when the screws go through the eliptical base to the screen brackt they don't catch on anything and since they don't come with nuts the screen just sits there not connected to anything. this is a BIG problem. the only way to connect the bracket to the eliptical is to put the screws in on the opposite side but due to the screen it is VERY frustrating to get the screws in without dropping them in the neck of the eliptical. then after you do that the screen still isn't securely mounted. when i called ironman fitness they informed me that they are in the process of moving their offices so they won't be taking calls until december 8. that's 11 days from now. i actually just got up and used the machine to verify it works and it works, great. the only problem i have is that the screws from the factory were jacked and ironman fitness is unavailable to do anything about it.

Easy Assembly/Excellent Instructions
Ironman Ascender CDT Elliptical Trainer With LCD TV
After a good deal of research I decided on the Ironman CDT Elliptical Trainer (the LCD TV is a nice addition but did not impact my choice). I placed my order on Thursday afternoon, it shipped on Friday and I received a call on Monday to set up a Tuesday delivery. Now..."some assembly required" usually means trying to understand poorly written instructions along with trying to decide if you should use the short screw or the shorter screw on certain steps. I have to give kudos to Ironman for the well written assembly instructions in their owner's manual AND more importantly for packaging the parts needed for each step in separate, well-marked containers. Each step of assembly is provided as text and a drawing (i.e., Figure 1)and all the parts needed to complete the assembly for that Figure are contained in a packet marked to correspond to that Figure. They even provide the tools required for assembly. I just completed assembly and wanted to share my thoughts. So far I'm impressed. This is obviously a well made machine and I look forward to many beneficial workouts using the Ironman Ascender.

WONDERFUL! VERY SMOOTH!
I did A LOT of research for the best elliptical trainer. The attributes I was looking for:
1) Sturdy (didn't wobble)
2) Longer stride length
3) A good price
4) A decent warranty
5) Smooth ride
6) Something that would last
My husband didn't seem to have any problems putting it together. It seemed pretty basic. So, if you have a handy man- you won't have a problem. When I first used this elliptical, it was a little squeaky. After my 35 min run, it wasn't squeaky anymore, but there was a banging sound. So, my husband just had to tighten a few parts underneath the right foot area and no more sound. I have used to every day for a week and absolutely LOVE it. It is so smooth. It doesn't wobble and it's not too bulky. You can't fold it up, but that's okay because I use it so much I wouldn't want to put it away. I think a lot of people aren't familiar with Iron man because it's pretty new with making elliptical machines. The screen is awesome too. You can program up to 4 people and it has a TON of programed workouts. I have yet to try them out. Make sure to go onto Ironmanfitness.com to register your product, so you get the warranty. The frame is lifetime. As of right now, I love this product and would purchase again.
FYI: Amazon was awesome! I ordered the product on Oct. 11th. It was shipped out on the 13th. I got a call from the delivery people on the 14th. I had the product at 9am on the 16th. It was VERY fast, early on delivery day (they were suppose to drop by between 10am-2pm), and all the parts were the undamaged. The delivery guy dropped it off right on the door step, which most will only drop it off at the curb or drive way. Go with Amazon over bayou fitness. Amazon's return policy is better especially for damaged products. Bayou fitness makes you pay for shipping back, even if it's damaged.
